Every year new trendy colors of paint, cabinets, and flooring are featured on our favorite HGTV shows and pinned onto our Pinterest feeds. Here at H.J. Martin and Son we see color trends on our newest products and then built into the homes we help our clients create. While trends may come off as “temporary,” we believe there is a reason trends are celebrated, especially in homes.

Color Trend: Urbane Bronze

One of our favorite brands, Sherwin Williams, who announced their beautiful Urbane Bronze as the 2021 Color of the Year is an excellent example of how trends work. As we were learning about Urbane Bronze and its deep, earthy tones, we realized many of our newer flooring products in the showrooms already have this color tone or would work well in conjunction with this color.

2020 will be known as the year of the home renovation, as many homeowners found themselves spending more time than ever within their four walls. Urbane Bronze has been making its way into the limelight with its rich brown tone, creating a grounding, natural color.

Color lets off certain feelings, and we have found that while Urbane Bronze may help some seek peace and renewal, it may also call to feelings of wanderlust and new experiences outside the home. It inspires serenity and connection, which a lot of people were seeking while living through a pandemic.

How to use the color in your home:

Shades similar to Urbane Bronze can be found in carpet, tile, and luxury vinyl, but it also can be found in fixtures, lighting, countertops, and cabinetry. The color is extremely versatile, while still being a newer trend in home decor.

Helping clients design their homes always begins with how your space currently looks or how you want it to look.

If someone wants to use a certain color like this in their home, we can use it in a number of ways. It’s a matter of matching it with the products already established like woodwork or lighting. Or we try to find a smaller space to use it such as a backsplash or accent wall to pull a room together.

A neutral color like this can be applied to create either a “cool” or “warm” atmosphere. Our team has helped design homes that use bronze in their flooring, paint, cabinetry, area rugs, and beyond.

What feelings do you want to feel when you walk in the front door? How do you want to evoke those feelings in your living space? We would love to help you find out.
