The Orchards is the first student housing in the history of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. The four-story structure features 37 fully furnished apartments with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, designed to accommodate 4-5 students, along with study rooms, a fitness center, and an on-site restaurant.
Multiple materials were utilized as part of the installation. For the kitchen and bathroom of each unit, Mannington’s Benchmark sheet vinyl was used; 1,280 yards for the entire building.
In the bedrooms and living-room areas, Mohawk’s Endzone carpet was installed. The project required a total of 2,000 yards of this product.
Throughout a host of other common areas – hallways, steps, offices, leasing space, and the lobby – 1,230 yards of Shaw’s Neyland III corridor carpet was utilized.
With the project having fallen significantly behind schedule, a tight timeline for completion prior to the start of the 2016-17 academic year was the greatest challenge. But it was met successfully by a crew of 6-10 installers from H.J. Martin and Son.
