Company Description: H.J. Martin and Son is a diversified construction company specializing in commercial & residential flooring, glass & glazing, walls & ceilings, commercial doors & hardware, and millwork & fixture installation.

Assistant Project Manager Position Description: This position is responsible for assisting with all project activities for retail remodels including, but not limited to, preliminary estimates, budgets, financial control, scheduling, coordination of job site activity, project close-out, and owner occupancy.

Assistant Project Manager Principal Responsibilities:

  • Daily field communication with the field team leader to problem-solve when unexpected issues arise to minimize lost time and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Communicate daily project progress and issues with the customer
  • Provide staffing, travel, and tool needs to the Crew Coordinator for upcoming projects to plan installation labor
  • Assist in pre-project planning with crew members
  • Process weekly time cards/paperwork from crews on job sites
  • Research and contact Subcontractors for bidding purposes
  • Manage Subcontractors, scheduling, manage changes, confirm permit submissions & inspections, and approve invoices
  • Execute Subcontractor Agreements; collect Certificate of Insurance/W9s
  • Coordinate materials purchases/deliveries with our purchasing department
  • Reconcile receipts to credit card statements
  • Maintain and collect all closeout documentation
  • Activate new jobs
  • Typing of quotes, letters, etc.
  • Execute & follow through on any assignments given by Project Manager
  • Other duties as assigned

Experience/Education Required:

  • Technical college or 4-year college degree in Construction or related discipline preferred
  • Experience and knowledge in several aspects of Construction is also preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints to determine subcontract work needed
  • Self-starter who is very organized, flexible, and team oriented is required
