Situated in the historic city of Manitowoc, WI,  River North Apartments stand as a tribute to the region’s renowned shipbuilding legacy. Nestled near the shores of Lake Michigan, this multi-family development exudes a thoughtful acknowledgment of its past, evident in the meticulously curated color palette and material choices. H.J. Martin and Son installed flooring in conjunction with Abacus Architects and Consolidated Construction Co.

Spanning 87 units and common areas, the flooring installation was an extensive project, covering nearly 100,000 sq.ft. with Mohawk LVP, J&J carpet, and Tarkett wall base. Formerly under the ownership of a railroad company, the site, located on the Manitowoc River peninsula, remained vacant for years, offering prime real estate with captivating river views in three directions and the silhouette of Lake Michigan in the background.

A dedicated crew of 15 installers worked diligently for more than four months, ensuring a flawless installation of various flooring types. Meticulous attention was given to major expansion joints and ramping to the entry doors, under the luxury vinyl tile installation, for both aesthetic appeal and functionality.

In a nod to the city’s rich history, the designer selected three distinct carpet tiles, creating a captivating multi-style pattern in each floor’s corridor. This conceptual masterpiece was brought to life by the skilled installers, who, after successfully testing the design on the fifth-floor corridor, replicated it throughout the rest of the building.

Residents of River North Apartments benefit from convenient access to downtown Manitowoc, where a plethora of shops and restaurants await. The development’s commitment to community extends beyond its walls, with plans for a park and boat landing, offering tenants additional avenues to appreciate the prime location. The building boasts a range of amenities, including communal spaces, an exercise room, and an outdoor patio providing a scenic overlook of the river, ensuring a well-rounded and enriching living experience.
