Lucas Wendt joined H.J. Martin and Son in 2013 and brings more than a decade of experience in estimating, project management, and operational leadership within the doors, hardware, and specialties division.

Lucas earned a degree in Woods Manufacturing Technology from Fox Valley Technical College in Oshkosh, where he attended from 2010 to 2012. His education provided a strong foundation in wood species, manufacturing processes, and technical detailing-knowledge that continues to inform his work today.

He began his professional career in 2012 with Midwest Moulding & Door, where he worked as an Estimator and Project Manager through 2013. In this role, Lucas was heavily involved in design-build projects, with a particular focus on assisted living facilities. He developed a deep understanding of building codes and hardware requirements, ensuring proper applications across complex projects. He worked closely with general contractors, prepared detailed submittals, and produced shop drawings using AutoCAD. His background in wood manufacturing, combined with hands-on experience in measurements and templating, allowed him to deliver accurate, buildable solutions from concept through execution.

In 2013, Lucas joined H.J. Martin and Son as a Project Estimator/Project Manager, where he bid and managed his own work from start to finish. His responsibilities included reviewing bid lists, completing detailed takeoffs, submitting bids to general contractors, producing shop drawings, coordinating approvals, managing fabrication, scheduling deliveries, and overseeing project closeouts. During this time, he worked extensively on projects for Life Time Fitness, managing jobs across the country.

In 2020, Lucas transitioned to focus exclusively on Project Management, helping guide the next phase of growth for the Doors, Hardware & Specialties division. What began as a four-person team has since expanded significantly, adding additional project management and estimating resources and now includes a growing team across the office and fabrication center. The formal separation of estimating and project management marked a major milestone in operational efficiency and sales growth.

Under Lucas' leadership, division sales doubled between 2023 and 2025 and continue to grow. He has overseen notable projects nationwide, including Georgia Southern University's Field House, Florida State University's practice facility, and a large federal security building, among others.

Outside of work, Lucas has volunteered as a church council member since 2016, reflecting his ongoing commitment to service and leadership within his community.
