H.J. Martin & Son, Green Bay, ranked 59th among the top 100 flooring retailers in the country in 2009, according to Floor Focus Magazine.  The magazine ranked the top 100 of 20,000 floor-covering retailers by annual flooring sales.

Henry Martin founded H.J. Martin & Son Inc. in 1931 two years into the Great Depression, selling tile and paint out of his garage at 337 N. Maple St.

Over the years, the company diversified and now includes residential and commercial flooring, glass and glazing, steel stud and drywall, commercial doors and hardware, retail fixtures, millwork installation and floor care.

H.J. Martin did business in 43 states in 2009.

Its headquarters is at 320 S. Military Ave.
