Project Description:

For 70 years, the EAA and its events have played a pivotal role in Wisconsin tourism, bolstering the economy by contributing millions of dollars, generating employment opportunities, and igniting inspiration among future aviators. As part of this legacy, Project 21: Museum Revitalization took shape as an impressive addition to the EAA Museum, situated at 3000 Poberezny Road in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. This two-story, 30,000 sq. ft. expansion is an addition to the historic Eagle Hangar, serving as a cutting-edge educational facility that encompasses both a Youth Education Center and an innovative Pilot Proficiency Center.

The addition to the Eagle Hangar houses the Youth Education Center, a space that nurtures learning and brings development to life. To accent the purpose of the space, the client selected vibrant rubber flooring in bright hues, that were arranged into an elegant arching pattern, with each starting in the main area and leading through a glass curtain wall and into the learning labs. This required the installers to cut the flooring precisely to create a visually appealing blend of colors, as well as ensure the pattern met up on the other side of the see-through glass curtain wall. The bathroom wall tiles, featuring a distinctive three-dimensional aesthetic, added a touch of creativity to the space.

Furthermore, the 1st floor was designed to accommodate a diverse range of events held by the EAA. To ensure the utmost flexibility, H.J. Martin and Son installed 110 panels of operable partition wall. These partitions create the ability to expand and transform the space, seamlessly creating four dynamic maker-spaces that cater to the unique needs of each occasion. To add to the functionality of the space, H.J. Martin and Son’s Doors & Hardware division installed plastic laminate wood doors that are finger print proof to ensure a space that stays clean and can withstand heavy traffic.
