Location: Brookfield, Wis.

Completion Date: October, 2016

Project Description:

The Corners is a brand-new lifestyle center development in Brookfield, Wis., a Milwaukee suburb, featuring 235 high-end apartments, along with destination retailers and popular restaurants. On 19 acres, the $200-million project offers urban-style apartments on the second through fifth floors in two buildings on the west end of the site, with retail space on the first floor.

Floor plans of The Corners offer studio, one-, two- and two-plus den apartments. Units include granite and quartz countertops, stainless-steel appliances, ceilings up to 10-feet tall, oversized showers and walk-in closets.  Among the amenities for residents are a private outdoor courtyard, a theatre room and a fitness center with yoga area.

Befitting the upscale design of The Corners, a number of high-quality materials were part of the installation by H.J. Martin and Son, primarily in neutral colors.

Masland carpet, chosen for its rich look, was installed in living areas, bedrooms and walk-in closets.

Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) was installed in the kitchens, bathrooms and the laundry area/hallway.

A particular challenge that was expertly tackled by the 25-person team of H.J. Martin and Son was the installation of 35,000-feet of millwork base. The difficulty of mitering the millwork corners perfectly was met time after time.

Additionally, this project required the grinding of a large amount of concrete to produce level floors.

A final obstacle for the H.J. Martin and Son flooring professionals was a tight timeline at the tail end of the job. The fourth and fifth floors of the two buildings were not available for the installation until May and required full completion by October, in spite of the fact that other sub-contractors routinely were working within the same space.
